Why is my ex boyfriend doing this to me? easy 10 pts! thanks:(?

we have been broken up for almost a year. we talked about getting back together, but i didnt rush him because he has to work a lot to get everything he owns because his parents dont work and his mom had a broken leg. He is also in the national guard too so he can pay for college..he is coming to my college in the fall...he said he wanted to get back together but then changed his mind so i told him that i do care for him but he hurt me, goodbye, and delete my number. So, he texted me a week later saying "hey" I ignored him and then he texted me again 4 days later asking me about a dorm at our college..and I asked him why he has not deleted my number and he said "why". I told him to please dont text my phone thanks:) and to please delete my number:)..he hasnt text me..(yet..i hope he doesnt) but why does he continue to text me and need me...its like he needs me to survive?? im clueless..need good advice thanks
