My avg found adware generic it wont let me take it off...?

I would download rkill, malwarebytes, superantispyware and run rkill. This will kill any programs known as viral. Then install, update, and run the scans on both programs. This should get rid of anything on your computer. They're all free and in my opinion the best out there.
